High Park Club 2022/2023 Curling Sign Up Rules
The Curling Section Liaison (Valerie Simmons) will ensure that online signups for all club sections are all live/active by
Friday, June 24, 2022
. Teams/individuals will then have until the end of the day on Friday, August 5, 2022 to sign-up.
Members must assume responsibility for signing up. Any member of a team may register their team online. Club personnel or section committees may not sign up teams or individuals on either the sign-up or free agent lists. Should technical difficulties be experienced, please contact the Curling Liaison, Valerie Simmons (
valerie@highparkclub.com
).
Individual Entries:
Friday and Saturday Social Curling Nights and all Day Leagues (except for Monday Open) are by individual entry. Preference will be given to individuals who are returning members and who have signed up prior to the deadline of August 5.
Team Entries:
The below rules are designed to apply to team entry in Prime Time sections (Monday – Thursday), Sunday (Open and Rec League), and Monday (Day) Open.
There must be a minimum of three players listed to be eligible as a team entry. Skips must ensure that any person listed on the signup sheets is able to fulfill their commitment to curl on that team.
Three player teams have until Friday, August 19, 2022 to complete their teams. Any team not filling their lineup by that time may have a fourth player allocated to them by the applicable section committee.
If there are more teams signed up by August 5 than can be accommodated in those sections the following rules will be applied to "rank" those teams. Ranking only applies to teams who sign up prior to August 5. All teams signing up after that time will be considered equal, without regard to whether team members are returning members of a section. Preference will be given according to the following:
Returning* team from the same night with four members of that returning team**;
Team with four returning members of the section from the same night;
Returning team from the same night with three members of that returning team**;
Teams with three returning members of the section from the same night;
Teams with two returning members of the section from the same night;
Teams who have two or more returning club members;
Where two or more teams are tied for entry into a section, after application of the rules, entry shall be determined by drawing names.
*The returning season is defined as the 2021/22 season. Those who played in 2019/20 who took a COVID-19/medical leave of absence for the 2021/22 season are also considered returning.
**Two players from the same team are not considered a “returning team” for the purposes of Curling sign-ups.
Members in Good Standing:
A member must be in "good standing" by August 19, 2022 in order to have standing as a returning member. For the purposes of curling sign-ups, a member will be in good standing if they do not have a balance at the club of more than $200 that is more than 60 days overdue. It is up to each team to ensure that each player signed up is in good standing.
If a member is signed up but is not in good standing by August 5, they will be contacted by Club Management, the Club Treasurer and/or Curling Liaison and given until August 19 to bring their account current. Any member whose account is not in good standing by August 19, will not have returning status for the purposes of curling sign-ups.
Section Member/Team Lists:
If there are more teams than can be accommodated in a league and a surplus number of teams are tied for the remaining spot(s), the section committee will organize a draw by Friday, August 19 to determine which teams will be given entry into the section. Representatives from teams that are not automatically granted entry into a league based on the rankings above will be invited to witness the draw via video conferencing. Players that have returning status who are not granted a spot in the league due to the result of a draw will retain their Section Returning Member status for the following season. These players will not be eligible for Team Returning Member status unless they fulfill the requirements of being a member of a team (i.e. fully paid fees & prizes funds and inclusion on the team list before January 31st of that season).
If there are openings in sections after August 5, teams may sign up. All teams signing up after August 5 will have equal status, without regard to membership status in the previous year and will be filled on a first come first serve basis.
Section Committees
are responsible for compiling team lists / section rosters and submitting them in excel format to Club Management and the Curling Liaison by no later than August 26 for the purposes of billing. Roster changes that occur after August 26 may be submitted to Club Management on an ongoing basis.
New Members:
New members must complete a Membership Application Form prior to the season’s start. Club Management is responsible for checking the Sign-up Sheets on a regular basis to flag prospective members and inform them of their commitment to apply for membership.
Curling Fees:
Member accounts will be charged by August 31, 2022, and members will receive a statement that includes their curling fees on or around September 1, 2022.
All curling fees must be paid in full by November 30, 2022. Members who have not paid their fees by November 30 may have their account and/or curling privileges suspended.
Interest will be incurred at a rate of 2% per month on charges that are 60 days or more past due.
The Board of Directors reserves the right to alter these rules, deadlines, billing/payment processes, and section capacities in writing to the membership.
Refunds:
If there are events outside of the control of High Park Club which require, for example, closure of the club, modification of the curling season, and/or delays or alterations in league play or other club activities, the Board of Directors may, based on the particular circumstances, consider paying refunds, partial refunds, or no refunds of membership fees. The decision of whether or not to pay refunds in each such particular circumstance will be at the sole discretion of the Board of Directors.
