Do I need to know how to curl in order to join?
Very simply, no! High Park welcomes and encourages new curlers to join the club each year. In particular, our Friday and Saturday evening sections are geared specifically to welcoming new members into the club and providing them the opportunity to learn to play. A number of our senior members also curl on Friday night, giving new members an opportunity to meet the members who curl other nights and may be looking for new team mates or a person to cover (spare) for them once or twice.

Do I need special footwear to curl?
As a new curler, a clean pair of runners is all you need to bring with you. The club has slip on sliders avaliable from the pro-shop for as low as $16.00. Although other clubs may tell you that you can use tape, we here at High Park feel that the slip on slider provides a much safer enviroment for new curlers still learning to get their balance on the ice.

High Park has a collection of brooms avaliable to new curlers. We ask that, if you decide to stick with the sport over a number of seasons, you invest in the purchase of your own broom. This will leave the clubs brooms in better repair long term for new curlers still to come.
